For this week’s Freebie Friday we bring you cupcake toppers for the various VBS themes and the library Summer reading program.

Just because it’s snack time doesn’t mean your adventure shouldn’t carry over into this time! Use these cupcake toppers to not only make your snack table look fun but to continue to enforce the message of your program.

All of the cupcake toppers come with the option to print ready-to-color which could make a fun craft/snack option!

Freebie Friday – Mother’s Day Seed Packet Cards

Happy Freebie Friday!

Today we bring you Mother’s Day seed packet cards! Write a special message on the back of the packet and then add some seeds. If you have enough time, you can use your mother’s favorite flower seeds; she will love it!

If you’re looking for something cute and easy to hand out for Mother’s Day, these are perfect! Put them together, add some seeds and then place them in a basket for moms to take home.

Decorating Tips and Ideas for VBS Athens

Stone Wall with Dirt Backdrops – Easily create an Athenian scene with Stone Wall with Dirt Backdrops! They cover a lot of space and can transform a room in minutes! In the picture above, we used two different backdrops (stone and stone with dirt floor), added some ivy garland (by taping it to the wall) and some plastic gold bars!

Columns- Another popular look is columns. You can use column cutouts or use columns from a craft store, often used for plants. Add a little faux ivy and you have the look of a Greek building, perhaps the Acropolis! You can even use columns as your signpost! Be sure to also check out the Column Backdrop listed below.

Torches- purchase cut out torches or fashion your own from paperboard rolled into a cone and covered or painted with tissue paper protruding as flame. (Guildcraft torch cut out pic)

Urns- Find some garden urns and fill them with plants or even fruit such as grapes!

Marketplace Tents- This is a good time to ask members of your congregation if they have any pop- up shelter tents. Many people use these for sporting events. Place several of these in a large room and wrap three sides of them with sheets. Scatter throw rug inside them for seating. Potted plants make this more of a scene. You can even place plants on columns! Don’t forget touches of ivy and pottery, especially urns!

Tables- low tables were the style in ancient Greece. Lay a folded table on the ground and place large pillows used for seats around the table. A low coffee table would also work. Decorate your table with bowls of fruit and goblets!

Trojan horse- Make a replica of the Trojan use by using a box for the body of the horse and corrugated for head, legs and tail and wheels. Cut an opening in the box to form the secret compartment. Use a second box to create the cart on which the horse stands. Paint this as you please. You can start with a large box to construct a giant horse- how fun that would be!
